What a surprise!
After watching an artist demonstrate her pastel work at the Kennebunkport Christmas Prelude (2009), I asked my family for some art supplies for Christmas. To my great surprise - I seem to have some talent. Who knew?!
I first vacationed in the Ogunquit, Maine area in the 1950's and have lived there most of the past 40 years. It has a rich history as an artist colony. I've been inspired by George Carpenter, Charles Woodbury and Beth Ellis.
Friends and family encouraged me to enter the Ogunquit 37th Annual Sidewalk Art Show and I won 3rd prize. (I'd been painting with oils for less than 2 months!)
Norman West, Ann Legg, Ron Prevoir - Judges
I was fortunate to have been instructed in plein air painting by Beth Ellis. She truly was paying-it-forward with a passion for her craft.
Studied at the Heartwood College of Art Kennebunk, Me. Painting with Jayne Adams - her human figures are amazing. Illustration of botanicals and architecture with DeWitt Hardy - his watercolor washes gave life to paper.
Enjoyed workshop/demonstrations with: Emily Passman, Guy Corriero, Calib Stone, Pat Hardy...
Spending Saturdays with a bunch of water color artists in Perkings Cove, Ogunquit, Maine and various locations in southern Maine/New Hampshire. Pat Hardy gives us inspiration - she calls us her "Painting Gypsies"
